Dear SouthernShine
Customers;
Thanks for a great year in
2005. We really appreciate you business and your friendship. As we look to the
2006 fall breeding season, we are proud of the line –up of fall yearling bulls
we will have to offer. If you need a bull this fall, please come by SSP and let
us show you our fall offering.
SSP will be bringing you a
quarterly newsletter, starting with this first edition. We want to keep our
valued customer informed about the genetics we have available and we will be
announcing new customer services from time to time. In addition we will be
providing you with Industry up-dates that could help you generate more profits
on you farm.
SSP
will begin offering a heifer development program to our customers beginning in
September. We have been fortunate to
have hired an excellent herdsman, Keith Jantz. Keith
has done an outstanding job of managing the SSP herd and we have full
confidence that his cattle management skills will be beneficial to our
customers that enroll their heifers into the SSP Heifer Development Program.
Please give us a call if you would like more information about having your
heifers developed as replacements for your herd or if you would be interested
in generating additional cash flow by offering bred heifers for sale at the
conclusion of the development period.
Weaning Ultra
Sound Data On SSP Fall 2006 Yearling Bulls
Please take a few minutes to
study the following weaning ultra sound data that was taken on the fall 2005
born SSP bulls. These bulls will have their yearling ultra sound data taken
around October 1st. When this information is returned to us from the American
Angus Association, we will supply you a copy in an up-coming newsletter.

SSP Semen
More
and more progressive producers are introducing Artificial Insemination into
their herd management program. These progressive minded producers are utilizing
A. I. to breed their heifers to known proven low birth weight bulls.
Another
strategy producers are moving toward is the incorporation of A.I. breeding in
the mature cow herd to lessen the number of bulls needed during the breeding
season.
SSP
will be offering our customers semen from our proven senior herd sires at
reduced prices. We have proven calving ease sires along with sires that will
add carcass merits to your calf crop. We also have sires that will add growth
and performance while at the same time produce thick easy fleshing replacement
heifers.
We
are excited to offer our customers the opportunity to use sires from the SSP
herd that we have carefully selected to meet the demands of the today’s beef
industry. With this exciting new offer,
SSP customers can A.I. breed to our leading herd sires and purchase sons of the
same sires to produce an entire calf crop of half siblings. Call us if you are
interested in learning more about our semen offers.
Again, thanks for your business and
let us know if we can assist you in reaching the goals you have set for
your herd.
Angus Source
Program
The
American Angus Association has received approval from USDA to market the Angus
Source® tag program. This is a verified age, source and genetics program that
is available to all commercial producers that have Angus sired calves. The AAA
will provide producers with an enrollment form to be completed and returned to
the AAA office. The information will be taken from the enrollment form and
provided to potential buyers through out the country. Buyers receive a
description and location of the calves via e-mail on a weekly basis. Buyers
immediately know they are buying farm fresh, age and source verified Angus
sired calves. As many as 14,000 calves
have been registered as Angus Source® calves in one month. Because this is a
verified program approved by USDA, participating producers can also utilize this tag
program to comply with the EID source verification system that will become
mandatory in January of 2009.
Your
Mississippi Angus Association Board of Directors also will be announcing some
additional benefits as a participant in the Angus Source® program. This
announcement is expected to be released within the next 60 to 90 days. When the
details of the are released, SSP will notify you of
additional opportunities you will have by identifying your calves with an Angus
Source® tag.
